A BIT MORE ABOUT WENDY
Why I Teach & My Teaching Philosophy
Since I was a toddler I have always been making music.
It was a natural progression for me to teach as I have never wanted the pressure of being a performer.
I believe my role in life is to help others find the benefits of making music and sharing music in an enjoyable and easy way that helps improve their life.
My teaching philosophy is that Learning Music should not be made hard – My aim is to help students learn in a step by step simple and enjoyable way. I am particularly passionate about giving music students all round skills from the beginning of their journey, particularly reading musical notation easily.
I also believe it is important to leave each lesson with clear goals AND a sense of achievement. Encouragement and patience are a part of my natural way of teaching.
I also believe humour and a positive mind set are important for everyone!
My Performing Experience
I have performed as a instrumentalist in a variety of orchestras and sung in a number of choirs including the Faye Dumont Women’s Choir.
I have also directed Choirs and ensembles as the Music co-ordinator at Ivanhoe Uniting Church and many School and Community ensembles from string orchestras, Concert Bands, Choirs, Recorder Consorts and more.
My Favourite Artists, Bands, Composers, Pieces of Music
I enjoy romantic composers such as Debussy and Chopin, but I also enjoy many baroque and classical music.
I was raised in a family where we listened to Country, Pop and Classical music, so I also enjoy artists like John Denver, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and so many many more Singer songwriters.
