Program Description:

Advanced Programs for Singing and All Instruments is available to all students of any age who have completed the 3 Stages of Wendy’s Music Learn to Play or Sing Course or have been assessed at the equivalent Grade 1 level.

Lessons can include

  • Technique
  • Playing Tunes
  • Reading Music
  • Writing Music
  • Understanding Music
  • Listening
  • Improvising
  • Performing

Lesson Format and Activities:

Lessons can be formatted to contain the relevant mix of activities suited to the current goal of the student.
Recommended Activities include

  • Technique exercises
  • Several Performance pieces
  • Aural development
  • Theory worksheets
  • Sight reading or Sight Singing
  • Improvisation

Homework requirements

Students are required to set aside time each week between lessons to review and develop these skills through the week’s requested homework ( currently written in each student’s music diary).
A Minimum of 4 Sessions at home of homework are suggested. Home sessions should be based on adequate repetition and improvement in the ease of playing set homework with good concentration rather than specific amounts of time.hence sessions may vary from 15 minutes to 60 minutes.Sessions for more advanced students may be done in small sections over the day.
Finding a set time for playing at home is highly recommended with parental support for children highly recommended.

Examinations through ANZCA are recommended but not essential for students at this level as a motivational goal and a means of grading.
Suitable Age: 5 – 99 years
Lesson Length: 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes each week
Class sizes: Individual
Program Length: Grade 1 to 8
Diploma
Approximately 1 year at each level 1 to 8 with 2 for Diploma.

Lesson Fees:
Individual $35 per week per 30 minutes via direct debit
$52.50 per week per 45 minutes via direct debit
$70 per week per 60 minutes via direct debit
Individual lessons can be started at any time within a term and require 14 days or 2 lessons notice in writing to discontinue.
NB Individual lessons only can be deferred twice per term when 24 hours notice in writing is given and an alternative time can be found. Deferred lessons are not applicable for shared or group lessons.

One or More Repertoire or Exam books
Theory Workbook
Prices will vary depending upon the instrument.
Frequency of purchase of such books will also vary with repertoire and theory particularly.

Lesson Instruments:

Students are required to have an instrument to play on at home however an instrument will be provided by the teachers or studio at lessons for Piano and Drumkit lessons.

Electric or Acoustic Guitars, Drumkits and Violins are all suitable.

Obtaining an Instrument page

It is essential for all students learning to play an instrument to have a reliable and correctly sized instrument to play on at home as well as lessons.

Wendy’s Music Studios provide a Piano, Digital Piano, Keyboard, or Drumkit for this lessons, however for all other instruments students are required to provide their own for lessons and at home.

Instruments such as Violins, Guitars, Flutes and Saxophones come in different sizes suitable to different ages. Prior to purchase it is suggested you undertake a Free assessment lesson and have your child measured to ensure it is suitable.
